Meet Amaya – The Unexpected Addition

Allow me to explain:

In May, American Girl was having a Truly Me doll sale. All of the dolls were $98. But strangely, AG only did this for certain states and cities.

It was around the time when my Mom was buying my little sister’s birthday gifts, and the free shipping deal was still available, so I thought, “Why not?” I never bought a doll from the Truly Me bundle sales, because the dolls were always paired with something expensive. Too expensive.

The doll I bought was backordered until July 1st, so I had plenty of time to wait…. And wait…. And wait. The last week was the longest and since I knew she was backordered, I didn’t even bother to check the order.

Near the end of June, we went to the AG store for Samanthalover’s birthday and surprisingly, she was in stock in the store. So when we got home, I checked my order and sure enough, she had shipped out a couple of days before and was arriving the next day!

Whew, long explanation.

She’s been here for about a week, but I’ve been so busy playing with her that I haven’t made a post. But I’ve taken a few photos for American Girl Doll Artist’s Instagram, if you want to go see her in all of her cuteness. :)

Here she is! :) She’s #58! I named her Amaya. (After weeks of name-searching)

Isn’t she gorgeous? Her hair… I just died when I curled it for the first time. IT’S SO CURLY! AND BOUNCY! AND SOFT! Yes, ahem, enough about the hair. :)

MeetA-4

But you have to see another photo of her curls because they’re so cute.

(She’s one of the only dolls who allows me to call them cute) XD

She takes ballet, hence the outfit. She tried to convince Pippa to join ballet too, but Pippa is too outdoorsy and she refused. Politely, of course. :)

In the month of waiting, I made Amaya a few flower crowns and let me just say, they were made for her. Here she is modeling two of them.

MeetA-8

This red and pink one is already available in our Etsy shop.

MeetA-6

And this is soon to come. Samanthalover said is reminded her of cotton candy. :P

MeetA-7

I already have quite a collection of fabric flowers now. Hehe… :) Hobby Lobby, this is your fault. XD

Here’s a photo I took after I just opened her. It took a while to find out how to lay her curls, but I guess she looks adorable anyway, right?

Swing

Her profile will be up on the Meet the Dolls page soon. :)

P.S. She’ll be happy to answer any questions you have about her. :) And look at Pippa’s profile for a surprising fact.

    • Thank you! I searched online for lots of different names, but none of them seemed to suit her. Then the name just popped into my head a few days before she arrived, when I was drawing pictures of her. :)

  1. Aaaaw! I saw Amaya on your Instagram, she’s so cute! And her hair is different, so you’ll be able to try new looks on her! :D Congrats!
    I’m loving the flower crowns!

  2. Okay, I already wanted #58, now I NEED her. XD She’s SO cute and sweet! How hard would you say her hair is to take care of? :)

    -Clara <3

    • Yes, you do need her! She is so easy to play with because you don’t have to worry about her hair getting mussed up very often, since it’s short. Her hair is actually the easiest to take care of, especially if you leave it just as it is. :) All you need is a comb, a spray bottle and a long pencil. I’ll post a tutorial later. :)

  3. WELCOME AMAYA! I’ve wanted this doll for about three years! If- no WHEN I go to the American girl store, I’m getting her. And that last picture is SO CUTE! How did you make that swing? Also, how do you curl her hair? ~Katherine😄

    • YES! You must get her, she is totally worth it!
The swing is just tied to branch with string. I had to adjust it though, to make sure Amaya didn’t tip over on the swing. :)
I will be posting a tutorial on her hair soon. :D

      • YES YES YES I MUST! I truly love that doll. Plus I only have one medium skinned doll, and no dark. Yeah, you definitely do not want your new doll to fall in the mud. One year, I took my new American girl out in the snow, and she fell over, and got a clump of snow in her eye.😁 Thank goodness she didn’t get silver eye! Can’t wait for the tutorial! ~Katherine😀

  4. Welcome to your new home Amaya! She’s so cute and I love the pictures you took of her. Amaya is a great name. Does she like animals? Congratulations on your new doll!

  5. Hi, Catlover02! I was wondering but could you do a post on how to do hair styles on curly haired dolls like Amaya’s hair? Or how to lair your doll hair properly? If you could do that, thanks!
