The Mysterious Illness: Part 6 (The finale)

Madison was started to feel tons better. She was glad she was able to go Coconut Clinic.

Thanksgiving was coming up quickly. Madison wondered if Thanksgiving would be different this year, with her food changes and all.

On Thanksgiving day, Madison’s home was filled with many wonderful smells. “Pumpkin pie, and turkey!” Madison thought, her mouth watering. Then, there was a knock at the door, right as the oven timer went off.

“Honey, can you get that?” Madison’s mother called from the kitchen.

“Sure Mom!” Madison replied. She hurried to get the door.

It was her friend, Sophie!

“Hi!” Madison exclaimed, “Come on in!”

“I’m sorry to bother you, but since it’s just you and your mom, would you like to join us for Thanksgiving?” Sophie asked. “I am so sorry this is last minute.”

” I wish I could, but I can’t eat some of the stuff you can.” Madison said, sadly.

“What?” Sophie asked, surprised. “What do you mean?”

“I can’t eat wheat anymore. And no more dairy either.” Madison said.

Sophie felt sorry for Madison. She frowned. Madison laughed. “Stop it! Hey, at least I feel a lot better!”

“Right,” Sophie said, smiling again. “Well, sorry for interrupting your Thanksgiving. Bye!”

“Bye!” Madison waved to her friend. Even though she was much healthier, she still felt sad sometimes because she couldn’t eat what everyone else was eating.

“Madison! Dinner is ready!” Madison’s mother called.

Madison hurried to the dining room, but there wasn’t any food there. “Mom, where’s the food?” she asked.

“It’s in the kitchen. But I thought we could stop and think about what we are thankful for.” Madison’s mother suggested.

“Okay.” Madison agreed.

” I am thankful for you.” said Madison’s mother. Madison giggled.

“I am thankful for you too!” Madison replied. “And I am thankful for Dr. Amy and Coconut Clinic.”

“Me too,” her mother agreed. “Let’s pray for our food.” They joined hands.

“Dear God, thank you that we are so healthy. We thank you for Dr. Amy and Coconut Clinic. Thank you that we have each other. Bless this food, and help it nourish our bodies. In Jesus’s name, we pray, Amen.” Madison’s mother said.

“Now, I’ll go get the food!” Madison’s mother hurried to the kitchen.

Madison’s heart swelled with thankfulness. She was thankful for  being healthy. She was thankful for her mom, and for Dr. Amy. Most of all, Madison was thankful for God and how he helped her be strong when she was sick.  She really did have lots to be thankful for.
