How many of you noticed the big button that said, “World by Girls Winners?”
How many of you pushed the button, and saw the winners?
How many of you noticed the 14-17 age group grand prize winner?
It’s me!
I won the grand prize in the World by Girls contest.
Here is my drawing:
And this is my paragraph I wrote (and my mom helped):
My place in the World by Girls would be a development center for their future success because girls need encouragement on how to take their interests and develop them into prosperous careers. They would recognize such skills they already love such as taking care of animals, doing photography, blogging or crafting, and learn how to develop those skill sets to be profitable and love what they do! For example, a girl who loved crafting would sign up for classes at the World by Girls Development Center for crafters, and she would learn different types of crafting opportunities and styles and she would be shown different possible jobs that would be available as an adult. The classes would encourage girls to try new things, grow their talents, and gain experience. Near the end of the classes, the girls could be shown the possibility of creating an online shop, a place that they could name and create with the help of a parent, and exercise all the information they have learned. Girls don’t have to be adults to be an entrepreneur, the World by Girls Development Center would be the ideal experience in encouraging, preparing, and developing the skills young girls need to do BIG things!

These are the prizes I won. My new doll (she has been named) will be making her debut in “The Guiding Compass” so stay tuned for that. :)
American Girl called us on February 9th. The rules had said if we won, we’d be contacted on or around February 8th. So when we didn’t hear from them on February 8th, I didn’t think I was one of the winners.
So the next day, I was doing my math (just like American Girl Doll Crafter) online and my mom got an email for a voice message which popped up in the right left corner on the screen. Catlover02 was in the room with me and we both raced upstairs to where our mom was as fast as we could. Breathless, we told her about the email and she listened to the voice message on her phone. It was an AG employee who was asking for my mom to call her back sometime. My mom called her back immediately. She walked into another room to have some quiet, and when she came back out, my mom told me I had won the grand prize for my age group! I was so surprised, and I kept saying, “I can’t believe it! I can’t believe it!” I called my grandma and my dad who was at work to tell them the news.
The prizes took a while to come because AG had some glitch when ordering the dolls and they got shipped out several weeks late. But I was so excited when the prizes came! I had lots of fun opening everything and all my siblings wanted to see everything, especially the popcorn machine and the TV.
I am extremely thankful to God that I won, and I wouldn’t have imagined it in a thousand years. :) I will always remember the experience.
Oh, and I’d still like to be called American Girl Doll Artist. :)
