About Dara

Dara started Small Dolls in a Big World with her sister Dacey back in 2014 and has been photographing her dolls ever since. Because of her American Girl collection that started when she received her first doll in 2009, she’s written stories, sewn doll clothes, and made coloring pages, all here on the blog. Now that Dara’s older, she’s not as active, but she still loves her dolls just the same. If you want to see Dara’s latest work, check out her instagram (@americangirldollartist) for a collection of favorite photos and inspired artwork.

About Dacey

Dacey has been collecting dolls since she received her first American Girl doll in 2009, and been photographing and writing stories since the blog first started in 2014. Over the years, she has learned how to sculpt miniature and perfectly doll-sized food, even tried her hand at owning a small business with Dara on Etsy. Currently, Dacey is enrolled in college for graphic design, but she still enjoys photography and hopes to bring the same happiness to others as she discovered scrolling through doll blogs back then. Dacey is more active on her Instagram account (@twin.suns.ag) which she occasionally updates to share the smaller photoshoots she captures in her free time.

  1. Hi! I know I’ve asked you this before but I can’t find it anywhere on your blog so I’m gonna ask again :). How did you get the ads on your blog? Thanks!!

  2. Hello, AmericanGirlDollArtist!

You may know this already, but on my blog, Journal of Two Dolls, I have been conducting a series of polls to design an imaginary GotY doll. She is almost complete, and I was wondering if you would be willing to illustrate the finished product. (Your drawings are AMAZING!) If you would like to do this, I’ll send you all the details (hair color, facemold, pet, favorite color, ect.) Then, when the picture was finished, we could post a photo of it on my blog. I’d give you all the credit, of course! ;)

No pressure whatsoever. If you don’t want to do this, it’s totally fine. Just thought I’d throw it out there! :)

    • I do not. 😊 I think American Girl dolls are for any age you want to play with them at. To me, they are friends and have opened many opportunities for me. If I would have stopped playing with them several years ago, when I was at the top of the target age range, my life would not be the same. ❤️ They are a huge part of my life and I won’t stop playing with them even if someone tells me I’m too old. If dolls are something you love, you should embrace it. 🤗 So no, people can never be too old for dolls. 😊
