Kaya woke up on Saturday with a big smile on her face. She went to the kitchen and found her 3 other sisters dressed.

“What’s up?” she asked.

“We’re going shopping today!” said Sarah, “Do you want to come?”

Kaya wrinkled her nose. Shopping was one of her least favorite things to do. “No, thanks.” said Kaya.

“Come on guys, or we’ll miss all the sales!” Jamie said.

Sarah, Kanani and Jamie left the house, leaving Kaya all alone. Well, she had Pepper, but he doesn’t really count.

“Oh, Pepper, “Kaya sighed, “What are we going to do? We are all alone. Maybe I’ll die of boredom.” Suddenly, she heard a ringing sound. Jamie had left her phone at home! Her friend was trying to call. Kaya pushed answer and held it up to her ear. “Hello?” she asked.

“Hi, is Jamie there?” the voice asked.

“Uh, no, this is Kaya,” Kaya said,”Who is speaking?”

“This is Jessica, hey, can you tell Jamie to call me back?” Then she hung up before Kaya had a chance to say anything.

Kaya sighed, and then she had a great idea! She grabbed Jamie’s phone to text Josefina, Kaya’s best friend.

“I can’t wait until tonight!” said Kaya. She had a lot of work to do.

Kaya set out some treats and drinks.

Then, she set out her sleeping bag. And she waited,

and waited,

and waited,

and waited .

Finally, the doorbell rang. It was Josefina!

“Hi Kaya!” said Josefina. “I’m so excited that you invited me to your sleepover! I’ve never been to one, you know. Uh, Kaya, what are you doing?”

“I’m getting our dinner. Do you like leftover pizza?” Kaya asked.

“Uh, yeah, I think.” said Josefina.

They ate dinner together.

“Now, what do we do?” asked Josefina. “I don’t know, because I’ve never been to a sleepover.”

“I think we get into our pajamas and then watch a movie,” Kaya said finally, “That’s what Jamie always does at her sleepovers.”

The friends got into their pajamas. “How do I look?” asked Kaya.

“Very nice!” Josefina replied.

Kaya tried to turn on the TV and put in a movie. “This isn’t working. I don’t know how to turn it on.”

Josefina shrugged. “I don’t know how to either. Let’s just chat.”

Kaya and Josefina sat down on top of their sleeping bags and talked about pets, school and food (yes, food), until they decided to go to sleep.

“Good night Josefina.” Kaya said with a yawn.

“Good night. Don’t let the bed bugs bite!” Josefina said as she snuggled into her sleeping bag.

Later that night, Jamie and her sisters came home from shopping.

“Ahhhh!” Jamie shrieked, “Who in the world is that?” she cried, pointing to Josefina, “And why is Kaya halfway out of her sleeping bag?”
