Well, it is already September (almost October, actually) and we have seen almost nothing on the next Girl of the Year. Last year, by this time, we had the leaked Lea mini doll, about 3 outfits from her collection, and more continuing to pop up. And now? I have found a few clues to share with you all – clues about the next GOTY, or Tenney Grant, the rumored “modern” doll coming out next year.
Before we start, I just want to state that I am assuming that GOTY 2017 is not Tenney Grant. I am assuming that these are two different dolls with different collections. This has been neither confirmed nor denied by American Girl, so please don’t accept this as a true fact. I could be completely wrong. ;)
Let’s start with the leaks. This set was leaked on Ebay a week or two ago.
This is a plaid shirt and a leather skirt with embossed designs. This outfit is VERY southwestern. It may look like a normal AG outfit (despite the fact that there’s no pink XD) but look a little closer at the buttons. The buttons are on the opposite side of girls clothing. That can only mean one thing.
The shirt is for a boy doll.
It does look very boy-ish, after all. I mean, the blue and green is not as vibrant as the girl doll clothing.
So I’m guessing the shirt is for Tenny Grant’s brother, and the skirt is a piece from one of Tenney’s outfits, since Tenney and her brother are rumored to be into music and live in Tennessee.
The next leak we have is an adorable kitten.
This is just a leak, I don’t know for sure if this is for GOTY 2017 or Tenney Grant. But I think it’s super cute so I wanted to share it. :) It’s so chubby!
Some of the clues I’ve found are from American Girl themselves! American Girl has been very active on their Instagram lately – including their “stories” section. If you don’t have an account, Instagram “stories” is a quick and easy way to post a photo of what you’re up to without making an actual post on your account. They stay up for 24 hours before disappearing.

So from this picture we can observe that they are making a movie or short film of some type.
A guitar fits perfectly in with Tenney’s story.
This looks like they are shooting in a barn. I immediately thought of Felicity, but she doesn’t really fit here. XD In Tennessee I think there are a lot of ranches and horses, so this could fit in Tenney’s story.
And if this movie or short film is for Tenney, I’m guessing this is the actor that plays her. She is very pretty. :D Notice her shirt. It’s very similar to the one above in the leak.
And here’s a picture of the actor with a tambourine. This also fits in her story of her loving music.
And this last one is another shot of a guitar.
It’s always hard to know what fits and what doesn’t when you don’t have any proof and you’re trying to find out clues for the GOTY. But I really enjoy it and love finding out the news!

Interesting… That’s all I can really say, well except for the stuff I’m about to say XD you know in that one picture, it looks like she is wearing the shirt in the first pic. So maybe they won’t make a boy doll, at least, I hope not. I’m kinda hoping to see this new doll, but not the boy doll. AND THE KITTY IS SO CUTE!

Ooh, I’m super excited for the finale of the Guiding Compass! I just recently read all of the parts, and I love them! I also love how you put a lot of time and thought into each and every part, even the .5 ones. They weren’t something quick that you threw together and put out there just to say you posted the next part. I love how all of your posts are like that! They all indicate quality over quantity, and I really like that about them. 😄

I don’t mind if she’s the GOTY. I’m hoping it’s not an African American doll. They just came out with Melody let her shine, plus they use the Sonali mold. How many can one have? The dog I hope not because it would be similar to Kailey’s dog. The cat meh ita alright. I don’t really understand why everyone is freaking out over a boy doll. It’s not like AG is doing a boy line. It’s a little brother for Godsake. I didn’t see everyone lose it over the bitty twin boy. What’s the difference??? Oh ya not much at all. Love AG excited to see what’s in store for 2017!
Okay I have a few things to say as I live in Tennessee so yes lots of horses and barns but the skirt wouldn’t fit it seems like something Saige would wear.
I think people will be upset if GOTY is not african american. That being said they just did a massive campaign for Melody, they are a business and it is unlikely that they would make much $ on a AA GOTY when most people may have just bought Melody. I really hope they don’t make a boy, they don’t need to pander to every market.
We’ve been wanting a boy for so long now that it’d be a awesome to include as a piece of the Goty collection. The boys lately hv been wanting more & more of that people are using AG to create them. AG would profit by selling them their selves. Smart move if so I love Tenny which when I search back in April or may when the name came out it would naked perfect since. Staged in southern US where music is huge. I’m dine w baking, dancing//gymnastic & beach themes. It’s time 4 change. Thx for your blog!

Would LOVE a brother/BOY doll. My daughter has 4 brothers so she would really like to have a playmate, but they won’t play with girl dolls!! This would be so cool and a way to include brothers, but still stay true to a company that caters to girls!!!
