Saving up for American Girl Items

American girl has so many cute things. On Cyber Monday, I had a hard time deciding what to buy. I ordered at about 11:30 A.M. I had hoping on buying Kaya’s Doll and Cradleboard, The Dreamy Nightstand, the Weekend Fun outfit, and a few other things. But they were all sold out. So I ended up purchasing Isabelle’s Performance Set, and her Dance Case. They were both on sale, and free shipping came with them! Score! 🙂

Though American Girl has fun products, some of those products come with a big price tag. Here are some ways to save up for your favorite items!

– Do chores around the house. There is always something that needs to cleaned or organized in my house, and probably in your house too!

– Make crafts and sell them.

– Pet-sit animals for others! Just make sure the animal you are pet-sitting doesn’t run away!

– Save money you receive from others.

– Try to save more and spend less!

– Have a lemonade stand. This works best in summer. 🙂

Another way to save money is by waiting for a good sale. Some of the best times to purchase things is at Christmas time. It’s when they have sales on a few GOTY items, and the Cyber Monday sale. They also have new deals everyday in December! Also, you know that sale American Girl had before the Cyber Monday sale? That has been going on since before March! You’ll never know when American Girl will have a sale. Don’t forget free shipping! That also is a good time to purchase things.

January – November is the best time to purchase GOTY items. In December, they start to sell out. Isabelle’s fashion sketchbook and her slippers for girls have already sold out.  January might not be the best time out of those months. It is when the GOTY is just released, and many items could be backordered.

If you are wanting to save up for a big item, I think going to the American girl store (if there is one near you) is a good choice. Not only is it a lot of fun, but you can see the item you like in person. Catlover02 used to like Kit’s bed, but when we went to the store, she found out it was plastic.

I hope these tips will help you!

If you have any ideas, feel free to share in the comments!

  1. My favorite way to save is babysitting! I enjoy doing it and it usually pays really well! I’ve actually never bought anything directly from AG, although I really want to.

  2. For the first time I bought something from AG, I ordered a package yesterday (they still had great sales!). I got the skateboarding set ($15) and the gold boots ($5)

  3. Actually, I think right after Christmas is a terrific time…I got 4 complete outfits, some pants, Izzy’s coral sweater, Ruthie’s accessories and Izzy’s dance case for $120, which when you’re saying AG, isn’t bad at all!

  4. Hmmm, that’s funny. My kit bed isn’t plastic. 🙂
